Liver Health

The liver is the largest glandular organ in the body.  One of its many functions includes the production of biochemicals necessary for digestion.  It also serves as a detoxifier and is responsible in part for the health of the entire human system.

Building and strengthening the Liver improves the quality of the bloodstream, digestion, detoxification

Herbs with a special relationship to Liver Health

Dandelion - serves as both a food and medicinal plant.  The leaf is a powerful diuretic and has a wonderful effect on the kidneys.  It is high in potassium and helps maintain and restore sodium/potassium levels in the body.  The root and leaf are excellent for digestive upsets.
Add Dandelion to your salad everyday.

Milk Thistle - has been used for 2000 years to treat the liver and protect the liver against toxins.  It is also reported to have protective effects and greatly improve its function

As part of a healthy liver diet - eat dark green leafy vegetables, sprouts, beets, whole grains, seeds and raw almonds.
